Technical Microbiologist

 

Alimentary Health (AH) is an innovative Irish healthcare company headquartered in Cork and a global pioneer in discovery, development and commercialisation of proprietary probiotic and pharmabiotic treatments. Having achieved leadership in Ireland with our flagship product Alflorex® and with a range of new “PrecisionBiotics” products on the horizon, we are looking to recruit a Technical Microbiologist to join the Production & Logistics and Research & Development team to support product supply chain, quality control (QC) and product development programmes. The successful candidate will ideally have a background in microbiology and a keen interest in product development. The position is initially on a full-time fixed-term basis and will be located at the Alimentary Health Head Office, Cork Airport Business Park, Cork.

 

 

Key responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of the Technical Manager

  • Support product logistics and liaise with suppliers and distributors to support product supply chain

  • Customer support for quality and technical queries

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of databases and technical, quality and regulatory documentation

  • Facilitate and maintaining product stability programme

  • Collection of stability reports, data analysis, data trending/statistical analysis

  • Generation of technical documents for regulatory submissions

  • Assist in new product development

  • Technical writing such as SOPs, protocols, final reports, trend reports, laboratory assessment

  • Support the development, troubleshooting and validation of new QC and research methodologies.

  • Analyse and interpret results in order to identify unusual or out-of-spec deviations and prepare technical reports with the aim to provide conclusions and recommendations.

  • Report activities progress and results to the Technical Manager, Technical Director and Production & Logistic Director.

  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

 

 

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • BSc or MSc in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biopharmaceutical or a related discipline. 2 year’s industry experience desirable.

  • Good PC skills and knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet Explorer.

  • Excellent technical and analytical skills with attention to details and a drive for high-quality results.

  • A ‘can-do’ attitude, comfortable with frequent change and working under pressure to tight deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational, prioritization and time-management skills.

  • Good communication skills and ability to consult, collaborate and build relationships with internal and external partners.
